Game 1 Recap
Benedictine Mesa put runners on all afternoon and held a 2–1 lead through five innings, but two late home runs from Simpson's Soria proved the difference in a 4–2 loss on Friday.
The Redhawks created early pressure with multiple baserunners in the first two innings but stranded five and couldn't break through. After Simpson scored in the third, Benedictine Mesa answered immediately with a sac fly from
Jasleen Calderon to tie the game.
In the fifth, Calderon delivered again with an RBI double to score Leianna Madrazo and give the Redhawks a 2–1 advantage. But Soria's solo homer in the sixth and two-run shot in the eighth flipped the game back to Simpson. Benedictine Mesa's final chance in the eighth ended with a pop-up and two strikeouts.
Game 2 Recap
A four-run third inning brought Benedictine Mesa back from a 5–0 deficit, but Simpson's big innings in the third, fourth, and sixth pushed the visitors to a 13–4 win in Game 2.
After Simpson built an early lead, the Redhawks answered with a two-out surge in the third: hits from
Annaleia Jenkins and R. Ritz, a walk to
Mackenzie Larson, an RBI single from Madrazo, and a bases-clearing double from Calderon to tie the game at 5–5.
Simpson responded with two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and a decisive five-run sixth to pull away. Jenkins was a bright spot, going 3-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base.
The Redhawks finished with eight hits but couldn't match Simpson's offensive output late.
