Redhawks Rally in Both Games but Coyotes Take the Win

Game 1 Recap
A three-run third inning sparked momentum for Benedictine Mesa, but the Redhawks couldn't erase an early deficit in a 5–3 loss to the College of Idaho on Tuesday.

The Coyotes jumped ahead 2–0 in the first, adding another run in the third before Benedictine answered. Shayla Young put the Redhawks on the board with a solo shot to left, followed by aggressive baserunning—three steals, including Emma Tufnell swiping home—to pull within one. Mackenzie Larson's sacrifice fly tied the game at 3–3.

Benedictine's defense steadied with a fourth-inning double play, but College of Idaho regained the lead in the fifth with two runs. The Redhawks were held hitless after the fourth as the Coyotes tacked on one more run in the seventh.

Game 2 Recap
Benedictine Mesa traded blows in a wild Game 2 but ultimately couldn't contain the Coyotes' power, falling 16–15 in the doubleheader finale.

College of Idaho opened with two home runs to build a 5–0 lead before Benedictine chipped away. Jasleen CalderonChloe Wright, and Emma Tufnell sparked a three-run third, and Mackenzie Larson crushed a two-run homer in the fourth to make it 9–5.

The Redhawks exploded for five runs in the fifth without a hit, fueled by walks, a hit-by-pitch, and disciplined plate appearances to tie the game 10–10. After the Coyotes moved back ahead, Leiana Madrazo launched a two-run homer in the sixth to keep Benedictine within 12–10.

A five-run Coyote seventh proved decisive, though Benedictine mounted one last push: an RBI double from Negasse Williams and a two-run double from Shayla Young brought the Redhawks within 16-15 before a deep flyout ended the rally.
